Teechers by John Godber
Directed by Jane Lush
Swan Studio 20-24th August at 7.45 pm
Audition – Thursday 6th June at 7.30 in the lower studio
Teechers is a fast moving comedy evoking modern school life. Using the format of an end-of-term play, the new drama teacher’s progress through two terms of recalcitrant classes, cynical colleagues and obstructive caretakers is reviewed through the eyes of three teenagers, Salty, Gail and Hobby. There are twenty characters, including teachers, students and caretakers. Traditionally all the parts are played by only three actors. I may use more, but probably no more than five.
The play is fast moving and requires actors to be able to change character at a beat. Set and props are minimal.
